Bihar is a state in India. It is located in the central eastern part of the country. Bihar has innumerable Buddhist monasteries. It has thus earned the name 'The Land of Buddha'. Patna is the capital of the state. Bihar was the both seat of Nanda Empire and Mauryan dynasty. Nalanda University and Vikramshila University were the two most important learning centers in ancient India which were also located in this state. So undoubtedly the cultural heritage of Bihar is rich. Bihar consists of five cultural zones, namely Bhojpur, Magadh, Mithila, Aang and Bajjika. Some of the living cultures in Bihar are its music, painting, dance, drama, handicrafts, festivals, fairs, architectural monuments etc.
