With mountains and soft coniferous trees all around charcoal and vegetable paints have always been the main ingredients of the Painting of Himachal Pradesh. Most of the paintings have been hugely inspired by the local lives of the people. Processions following royal member, a queen busy in dressing herself up, Hindu gods and goddess, legendary stories from Ramayana and Mahabharata are some of the major subjects of th Painting of Himachal Pradesh. Many of thee paintings have been engraved on the walls of the temples and holy shrines of Himachal.
