Apart from celebrating all traditional religious festivals of the Hindus, Muslims and other communities, Madhya Pradesh also celebrates its unique tribal fairs and festivals. These fairs and festivals of Madhya Pradesh is the celebration of different colourful tribes with varied ethnic lifestyle. Jhabua tribal festivals are popular for cheerful celebrations, drinking and colourful amusement like cock-fighting, uninhibited dancing, and so forth. Among many colourful cultural fairs and festivals of Madhya Pradesh, the Khajuraho Festival of Dances and the Tansen Music Festival in Gwalior are prominently popular celebrations of Indian classical dance and music.

Madai festival is one of the inimitable attractions of Bastar. The tribal group, Gonda come from far places to purchase their years supply of items like cooking oil and salt. Madai is celebrated and organised in almost all villages but the most popular one is that of Narayanpur in Baster. As a symbol of sacrifice to mother goddess people usually slaughter a goat amidst tribal songs, drum beating and bells.
Another famous fair is the Fair of Nagaji. Tribals move to the Porsa village in Murena district to organise this fair or mela in every winter season. This is celebrated in order to remember and respect the memory of the great Saint Nagaji. Long back primarily monkeys were sold at this fair, but now domestic cattle are sold.

The Bhagoriya Festival, held in the Jhabua district, is a festival of fun and joy of Bhils. Young men and women rejoice it with ritual dancing to the beat of drums and sweet melody of bansuri (flutes). This celebration is very special to Bhils because here men can express their love to the respective girls or partners.
