Uttar Pradesh in India is home to a whole lot of fairs and festivals. These Fairs and Festivals of Uttar Pradesh uphold the intrinsic spirit of traditional life in Uttar Pradesh. All the major festivals of India are celebrated with great pomp and show at Uttar Pradesh. Diwali brings in the new year in most parts of north India , including Uttar Pradesh. Eid, Dushhera, Karwa Chauth and a host of other festivals are celebrated with glee and frolic at Uttar Pradesh. The Rambarat celebrates the marriage procession of Sri Ram. This festival is one of the most important Fairs and Festivals of Uttar Pradesh.
During the months of August and September is celebrated the Kailash Fair. This fair is dedicated to Lord Shiva one of the trinity gods in Hinduism. The festival of holi is celebrated with great fun and excitement in every corner of Uttar Pradesh. Holi celebrates the the legendary killing of the demon Hiryanakashyap in the hands of Lord Vishnu. Sweets and mild intoxicating agents are consumed by one and all during the festive celebration. As one drenches the other in pools of liquid colors and gulals Holi dismisses apparent differences between people. The greatest celebration of Holi may be noticed in Mathura where lord Krishna was believed to have taken birth. Rath ka Mela is held in the month of March in Vrindaban.
Together with Hariyali Teej, Janmashtami, Radha Ashtami and Annakut the Fairs and Festivals of Uttar Pradesh complete a yearly circle. Through out the year one or the other festival keeps the social life in Uttar Pradesh quite a busy one. Kampil Fair held in Kampil celebrates the arrival of Mahavir Jain in Kampil every year. On the occasion of all these fairs many interesting things are sold in the Fairs and Festivals of Uttar Pradesh.
